A Client-Centred Therapy Practice

Welcome to TalkCCT, an online client-centred therapy platform, offering a safe, confidential, and ethical counselling service with a focus on grief and trauma.

Whatever may be affecting your mental health, the objective of counselling is to engage in a communication process that fosters clarity and resolution to mental distress. Online counselling is becoming increasingly popular as an accessible, inclusive, and more comfortable way of accessing therapy - and evidence supports it's effectiveness. On this site you'll find more information about this kind of counselling and how it helps, and if you're ready to start you can send me a direct message from the book a session page.

When looking for a counsellor, you may see a variety of different qualification levels and types, but in this blog we look at the most important things to consider in relation to what these credentials mean and what you need to look out for, so that you can make a safe and informed choice.

Hi, I'm Dan, counsellor at TalkCCT and qualified counsellor and professional accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (find me on the accredited register here).

Whether you're new to counselling, or know exactly what you're looking for, I've done my best to lay out the foundations of my counselling service in simple terms to cover everything need to know. And if there's anything else you need to know, please don't hesitate to get in touch with a message from the contact page.

I'm excited to offer you an approach to counselling which is rooted in humanistic and libertarian values, supported by a robust evidence base. I think it is the case that client-centred therapy is the most ethical and powerful means of bringing about well-adjusted mental wellbeing.

Client-centred and person-centred therapies are one of the most well-known forms of counselling available today. But what is the scientific evidence to support their use? In this blog I outline research in client-centred therapy from its early period to present time.

Did you know...

Only 1 in 8 adults with a mental health problem in the UK receive any form of treatment, but the most common treatment offered is psychiatric medication (1).

However, when it comes to talking therapy, research indicates that counselling is as effective as CBT, the same type of psychotherapy provided by IAPT in the NHS (2, 3).

In addition, NICE guidelines recommend counselling as an effective treatment for common mental health problems such as depression and general anxiety disorder (GAD) (4).

And it turns out:

A poll conducted by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy found that:

73% of people agree that they might be happier if they speak to a counsellor, and;

65% agree that it is better to access counselling than to take medication for mental health concerns (5).
